چکیده

The domain wall ~DW! contribution to magnetoresistance has been investigated using an epitaxial microfabricated bcc ~110! Fe wires of 2 mm linewidth. A strong in-plane uniaxial component to the magnetic anisotropy perpendicular to the wire axis causes a regular stripe domain pattern with closure domains. The stripe domain width in zero-applied magnetic field is strongly affected by the magnetic history and can be continuously varied from 0.45 to 1.8 mm. This enables a measurement of the resistivity as a function of DW density in a single wire. Clear evidence is presented that the resistivity is reduced in the presence of DWs at low temperatures. © 1998 American Institute of Physics. @S0003-6951~98!04335-6#

Negative Domain Wall Contribution to the Resistivity of Microfabricated Fe Wires

The effect of domain walls on electron transport has been investigated in microfabricated Fe wires (0.65 to 20 mm linewidths) with controlled stripe domains. Magnetoresistance (MR) measurements as a function of domain wall density, temperature, and the angle of the applied field are used to determine the low field MR contributions due to conventional sources in ferromagnetic materials and that ...

Magnetoresistance, micromagnetism, and domain wall effects in epitaxial Fe and Co structures with stripe domains „invited..

We review our recent magnetotransport and micromagnetic studies of lithographically defined epitaxial thin film structures of body-centered-cubic Fe and hexagonal-closed-packed ~hcp! Co with stripe domains. Micromagnetic structure and resistivity anisotropy are shown to be the predominant sources of low field magnetoresistance ~MR! in these microstructures, with domain wall ~DW! effects smaller...

Quantum Interference Control of Ballistic Magneto- resistance in a Magnetic Nanowire Containing Two Atomic- Size Domain Walls

The magnetoresistance of a one-dimensional electron gas in a metallic ferromagnetic nanowire containing two atomic-size domain walls has been investigated in the presence of spin-orbit interaction. The magnetoresistance is calculated in the ballistic regime, within the Landauer-Büttiker formalism. It has been demonstrated that the conductance of a magnetic nanowire with double domain walls...

Magnetic Properties of Fe Microstructures with Focused Ion Beam-Fabricated Nano-Constrictions

Studies of the magnetic properties of Fe microfabricated wires with a mechanically stable 40 to 120 nm-wide constriction produced with focused ion beam are reported. The 2 to 20 m-wide wires are fabricated by photolithography from 3 nm and 25 nm-thick epitaxial (110) bcc Fe films. This fabrication method appears to preserve the magnetic properties of the constriction. The structures are studied...

Domain-wall scattering in epitaxial FePd ordered alloy films with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy

Domain-wall scattering in a FePd-ordered alloy film with strong perpendicular magnetic anisotropy has been investigated using magnetoresistance measurements on a whole hysteresis loop and as a function of temperature. A strong correlation between the hysteretic behavior of the resistivity due to domain walls and the magnetization process is found. The data are well described by a spin-dependent...
